Hong Kong Live it. Love it. - Escalator
This entry is still on Day 1 in Hong Kong. After exploring Causeway Bay, Vanessa and I headed back to the hotel to meet the gals. Initial plan was to meet some of our Hong Kong colleagues for drink, however, Joy and Michelle weren't feeling well, hence, we settled for dinner on our own.
Our hotel, Bishop Lei is located at the Mid-Level of Central, for the fact that Hong Kong is a very hilly place, we had to 'overcome' slopes and stairs wherever we go. Our hotel is very near central and very convenient, all it took was a 15 mins walk DOWN the escalator for us to reach the crowded area of Lan Kwai Fong. With no surprise, on a Friday night, it's hard to get find anywhere that is not crowded.
After 10 mins search, we settled at this italian restaurant, Pizza Express, where we had our dinner. Though we shared the food, they were enough to fill our small tummies.
After dinner, the unwell ladies decided to head back for their rest, Vanessa brought me to explore Mongkok, since I've never been before, mainly to take a look at the ladies market there. Mongkok is an area where the gangs would hang out, but more recently, it's been in the news for the acid attacks that are happening. Back to the ladies market, I think there is nothing much over there, except that it's more of a tourist attraction. It could be described as the stalls in our very own Chinatown.
Streets in Mongkok are very lighted up and they looked as if it was still broad daylight. I was really surprised that the shops open till midnight and people just shop and shop and shop. It is truly a city that never sleep I think.
